The actings improved, the vamps looked SO much better, there was barely any awkward acting, and the casting was GREAT! and... it actually stayed REALLY true to the book! Whoduh thunk?

I'm gonna try *TRY!!* to blog more often, I have LOTS to blog about, especially since I just came home from a ten day trip to California!! I took over 600 pics and I met some famous people (oooh!!)! We went to Hollywood, Universal Studios, Los Angeles, Disneyland, San Diego, and SeaWorld. No, this was not just a random trip, My cousin, Bobby (Or "Bob" as everyone calls him now.... but like, that's my UNCLE. So I still call him Bobby. *shrug*) got married to a WONDERFUL girl on the seventh in San Diego. The wedding was beautiful, and a bunch of my fellow Connecticut family members went, too. Including Little Reilly! Yeah, Reilly's like, four now. He's the cutest kid. :)) Also, my cousin Carney came from Arizona with his wife and son. It was great to see them, since we haven't seen them since Reilly's Baptism! Reilly was baptized in March of 2006... yeah. Long time.

Well, that's all for now! I'll be back, though. *EVIL LAUGH*

Kindness, loyalty, a sense of humor, be a Catholic, a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, a mouth to comfort, and a hand to hold. It would be nice if, a) He liked to dance and was a good dancer or b) was willing to learn. No swaying dancing at my wedding, thank you very much.

Is there a fictional character you see as a model for your future husband?

Where do you want your wedding?
I want to be married in a small church like my parents were. A small wedding with just our family and friends.

What are your views on courtship?
Courtship is a great way to get to know someone. I really like the idea. I'm allowed to "date" now that I'm sixteen, bt I'm hoping instead to court or do something like it.

What are your views on your first kiss?
I want my first kiss to happen when he asks, "Can I kiss you?" and I reply, "Yes." I think the idea of waiting for your engagement or wedding day is a wonderful idea, but I think that a kiss shows love, and you really want to know the person loves you when you marry them/ get engaged.

Do you have or want a purity ring/locket?
Ooh! I've never heard of a purity locket! I have a makeshift purity ring that is on my left ring finger until I get my real one.

Do you have or want a hope chest?
Ooh! I would LOVE one!

Will you wear a veil at your wedding?
OF COURSE!!!

What kind of wedding dress do you want?
Maybe a regency like dress? Or an A-line dress with sleeves.

Madelynn Therese. I love the name Madelynn and the spelling of it, and Therese is my favorite saing.

I know it's been at least two weeks since the tragic and unexpected death of "The King of Pop", Michael Jackson, and expected, but just as equally tragic death of Farrah Fawcett.

Why is my little town still in mourning, then? How many people from my town met Michael Jackson? As we passed our local Wendy's, a message on the board outside the restraunt caught my eye:

"Goodbye, Michael."

As soon as I had seen it, I was in shock. Truly, Michael Jackson was a wonderful entertainer, but as a person?

Yeah...

The same day of MJ and Farrah's deaths, my good friend Mike's cousin was killed over seas fighting for our country.

How much coverage did this FEARLESS HERO get?!

Nothing.

Not.

One.

Thing.

Still, our country is mourning the deaths of two entertainers. Yes, they were entertaining. Yes, they will be missed. But what about the man that died for you? Why aren't we mourning him? The man laid his life down for his country, so selfless. How many of us are willing to do that?

Don't mourn the entertainers, mourn the hero.

On Friday, poor Karen was throwing up a storm. Then, on Saturday morning, I woke up, feeling just so loverly (NOT). And then…

I puked.

Yes, yes you read that right.

And my flight was scheduled for that afternoon.

Tell me. Who wants to fly when they feel that disgusting?!

No one. I know.

Luckily, I made it alive on the plane, but then… today….

BLURGH.

Apparently I have all the symptoms of Swine Flu. My doctor, Dr. Luisa, said that they're not even TESTING for Swine Flu anymore, so I'm not getting tested.

So, here I am. Lying on the couch with a cup of brown rice and broth next to me. I'm in my PJ's, and waiting for my daddy to come home with my Gatorade, ginger ale, and saltines.

Yep.

So, I'm DYING to watch Beauty and the Beast for some reason, so I think I'll stick it in our ANCIENT VCR! In my messed up condition, I wouldn't be surprised if I sob at the end. Beauty and the Beast and the Little Mermaid are the best two Disney Movies EVER. Period. Belle and Ariel are sooo me! I'm that daydreaming bookworm. Yep.

Anyway, I'm off to watch my movie… Um… Why don't you go watch it too? O.o

So. My parental units went to this Seton Home Study Conference in DC yesterday (We've been doing seton for about... six years now. It's GREAT!)And, one of my most FAVORITEST AUTHORS EVER, Regina Doman, was there! They bought me the second John Paul 2 High book, "Trespasses against us" and then... REGINA PERSONALLY SIGNED IT!! AHH AHH!! AHHHH!!

It's awesome.

Home Sweet Home

Well, I'm back from Texas! I had a GREAT time with The Other Katie and Nine Texans and the rest of their crazy cool family.

Unfortunately, Karen (Nine Texans) got really sick on Friday night (the night before I left) and I caught it yesterday morning. As you can imagine, I was NOT looking forward to flying with the way I was feeling. I threw up early in the morning, but thankfully, that was it. Poor Katie (the other one) got sick yesterday while me, her dad, and her cousin Ceci were at Payless. :(

Anyway, I'll post some pictures (and exclusive music videos by "The Katies") later.

Anyway, here is said article.

This week I'll turn sixteen. Apparently that's a big milestone. In most states, you can start driving when you're sixteen; you can get a job; you start looking at colleges and planning for the future. For some reason, it's more of a big deal for girls than it is for boys. I guess it's like a modern-day coming-out....our new version of "You're a lady now".

That's all well and good. But what I'm thinking about as I begin my seventeenth year in this world and tack a different number onto myself is "ten years". Ten years since I was six. That's a great age to be. Some fairly momentous things happened to me when I was six.
I moved to another state, leaving behind my church, school, friends and beloved kindergarten teacher.
I started homeschooling.
I started a new life in a new place, and made new friends.
Friends. The first ones I met were Katie and Sarah. Our moms met online, and found out that they each had a daughter aged six, named Katie, and both homeschooled. It was then discovered that that other Katie had a little sister named Sarah. My middle name was Sara! These remarkable coincidences led to a friendship that's still going today. Ten years later. Katie and Sarah were always my best friends. They were family to me, and I'm pretty sure I was family to them. Their house was my second home. Often over the years my mom would be on the phone with their mom. Then she'd turn to me and say,"Katie, do you want to go sleep over at Katie's house?"
You can imagine my answer.
"OK, get your stuff together. Stacey is gonna pick you up in a few minutes."

Boy, did we have fun. We've almost never argued, that I can remember. Of course, it wasn't constantly happiness and light. Sarah and I had a funny little "enmity" (take note of the quotation marks) for a year or two. We made up eventually.
Katie and I almost never fought. We insulted each other at times and did or said things the other didn't like and gotten on each other's nerves...but within my memory we've never had an out-and-out fight.

Just because our names were the same didn't mean we weren't different in some ways. For example, I was never allowed to read the Harry Potter books or watch the movies, although as I got older the restrictions on the movies were somewhat relaxed. Katie and Sarah were crazy about them. I tolerated their ravings, and they in turn put up with my Nancy Drew obsession.

One thing we have always had in common, however, is our love of reading. We're all book-eaters...let us out of your sight and you can expect at least one of us to have our nose in a good book. Over the years we've lent each other books, recommended books, and obsessed over books. I remember once when I lent one to Katie and she didn't return it for a year.

Ah, remembrance.....I'm quickly turning sentimental. Please bear with me while I take a leisurely stroll down memory lane...
The Katie Sarah Katie Sara Detective Agency: Timeless. We never did solve any mysteries, but the theme song with dance sure was fun!

On my wall is a picture of Katie dipping me when we were eight or nine. The jumper that I'm wearing in that picture now belongs to my eight year old sister. Crazy how time goes by, isn't it? More than three years ago my family moved again; all the way to Texas. It hurt to leave when I had been there for six years- the longest my family had stayed anyplace.* Now, looking back, I'm glad we moved. The Lone Star State is a great place to live, and I've made great friends here and had some crazy fun experiences that would never have happened had my family remained in CT.

Of course, our friendship continued. Sometime this fall it will have been ten years since the chilly, blustery day when we met. I've always been closest to Katie since we're much closer in age (BFF, girly!) but today I'm thinking of the crazy, laughing, carefree trio that would be called to dinner with "Katie-Sarah-Katie-Sara! Get down here!" and have at least two sleepovers a week during the summer.

So here's to ten years: may the next decade be even better.

Let's talk Macbeth.

Today was the last performance of Macbeth *SOB*. It was most definately the best production I have ever been in. Both Lady Macbeths (Lady Macbeth, Lady Macduff, and Macbeth were all double casted) were newbies and they were AMAZING! The witches stole the show. Of course. ;) Ben (Tybalt in R&J) and Tyler (Mercutio in R&J and Bottom in Dream) were AMAZING Macbeths. Erica and Tess were awesome Lady Macbeth's and I can't wait to see what they do next year. Jess (Juliet in R&J) was a murderer this time around. A very small part, but she played it SOOO well! Everyone with smaller parts totally hammed it up and acted it well. Especially Hecate, played by Anna (Gregory in R&J and Puck in Dream). SHE WAS AWESOME! I'm so proud of her! And Annie (Mustardseed in Dream and Peter in R&J) played Macduff's son who is brutally murdered (by her older brother, may I add.). WOWWOWOWOOWOW! She was GREAT!

The witches were played by me, Megan (Lady Capulet in R&J and Titania in Dream) and Sarah (Montague in R&J and Lysander in Dream). We rocked. we got the coolest makeup. Fo' sho.

Only five more lessons of Algebra till I am TOTALLY 100% DONE! No joke!! I'm SOO psyched. And today, I learned how to use my graphing calculator. So fun! I'm so excited to be done! I only have 8 more assignments to send into Seton until I am DONE WITH NINTH GRADE! FOREVER! WOO!

Although, as soon as I'm done with ninth grade, I'm starting right away with tenth grade. Since I'm fifteen, I'm supposed to be a sophomore. But last year, when Sarah was sick all the time, nobody got any school done. So, I'm hoping maybe to finish at least the first quarter of English before September. I'm going to do my literature and book analysises right away.

Today, I took the Merchant of Venice Test. Mom was going on and on about how hard it was going to be, but it only took like fifteen minutes, and it wasn't that hard. I already knew the story, so that probably made it easier. And I didn't really need cliff notes cuz TJS did a summer workshop performance of MOV so I know everything. Plus, it's the Allmighty director Kelly's favorite play. It's one of mine now,too. That, Macbeth, and Romeo and Juliet.

Ooh, I just found out I have two literature courses next year! YAY! World Literature and English.

I have to read three books for the first quarter. WOOT WOOT.

For English, should I read Great Expectations, Giant, or the Scarlet Pipernal?

For World Literature, should I read Around the World in 80 Days, Pinoccio, or the Betrothed? Hmmm...

It was sooo warm yesterday! I was so surprised, especially since it's FREEZING today.

Opening night for MacBeth is next Friday at 7pm est. *gulp* I'm knitting chainmail for our fighters. We only have about ten people who REALLY need it, and we have about five knitters, so that's only like two things per person, not too bad. We're just using gray yarn with BIG needles and making two rectangles and sewing them together. Easy Smeezy.

Yesterday, mom, Sarah, some friends and I went to the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in Litchfield in Litchfield, CT. It's BEAUTIFUL! They have an outside little chapel, and the most beautiful stations of the cross. It's like a hike through the woods, almost. Except, it's not really woodsy. I mean, it is, but it's paved road with random benches everywhere. If you're ever in the area, make sure to stop there. And tell me, so I can meet ya there! They have a GREAT Catholic bookstore, too.

1) When I was younger, I HATED skirts or dresses. I only wore them to Church, and that was because my mom made me.
2) When I was little, I would scribble on a piece of paper and give it to my mom. When she asked what it was, I told her I had written a story. She would ask me to tell it to her, and I would. Again, and again, and again.
3) I love NCIS, dunno why, but it's a sweet show
4) I was born with black hair and blue eyes. When I was a year old, my mom realized my roots were coming in blonde. Now I have ash blonde hair and green eyes.
5) My first time on stage was when I was four. I was a little fairy in "A Midsummer Night's Dream"
6) My cousin, Tina, got me obsessed with Harry Potter. She begged me to see the movie with her when it first came out, and I was hooked. I was eight.
7) I almost got hit by a car at a Volvo dealership with my friend. I walked out into the middle of the road blabbing, and my friend grabbed my hair and dragged me back.
8) I love the color pink and glitter.
9) My first kiss was when I was six years old. I don't really count it, though.
10) I share a birthday with my cousin, Bobby.
11) Speaking of Bobby, my family is going to California in November for his wedding.
12) I love flipflops. I've already bought four pairs this year and I'm planning on buying more. Old Navy rocks. :)

14) When I was eight, I really wanted a Harry Potter scarf. My mom learned to knit to make me one.
15) I lost that scarf when I went into NYC to see Mary Poppins. I cried.

Summer's soon! YAY! And tech week is next week. *gulp* I know my lines, my blocking, and my costume is almost done. I'm really psyched! And nervous.

This year, instead of the measly little elementary school, we get... THE HIGHSCHOOL! Which holds over a thousand people. And is air conditioned.

I'm going to a couple camps, too, this summer. And then... MY SWEET SIXTEEN!

A few months ago, Karen over at Nine Texans, sent me a group invite on Facebook. The name of the group was something along the lines of "Prayer Group for Mayah and Faith"

Mayah is a 23 single mom who's beautiful baby daughter, Faith, was born with a rare condition in which she was born without a brain.

They didn't expect Faith to make it full term, but she did. She's now over six weeks old and still breathing. This is truly a miracle. The doctors cannot explain it.

Today I was looking at some other blogs of other families who's children had this condition. Sadly, most weren't as lucky as Faith and Mayah and didn't live very long.

Please keep Faith and Mayah in your prayers, and all families who are expecting special children. May God comfort them. Amen.

Chapter 1

“No, no, Stephenie! It was a joke! I was just joking!”
I peeked up over my book as my best friend, Matt was on the phone with his girlfriend, Stephenie. She was upset about something stupid. Again.
“What? Where on earth did you hear that? Oh, come on Steph! It was a joke!”
I could hear Stephenie crying on the other side of the phone line. And I couldn’t really say I felt bad…
“Steph come on! Steph? Steph? Oh, you have to be kidding me!”
I peeked over my book again and saw Matt hanging up his cell. He turned around and looked at me, tilting his head to one side.
“So…” I said slowly, “What happened.”
“I made a joke at school the other day.” Matt snorted, “and she took it seriously.”
I sighed and sat up.
“Matt,” I said, “If you want to continue dating Stephenie, you’re going to have to understand that she gets more upset than normal people do.”
Matt plopped himself on my bed next to me. I felt myself go up a little because of his weight.
“Taylor,” he said to me, “Why can’t all girls be like you?”
“What? Gorgeous and understanding?” I said with a grin.
Matt reached over and pinched my arm.
“Ow!” I cried, rubbing my arm, “That hurt!”
Matt rolled his eyes at me. “You know what I meant.”
“No, actually. I don’t. Please enlighten me.”
Matt sighed, “You get my jokes! You think they’re funny.”
I glared at him, “Matthew Andrew Lewiston, what did you say this time.”
“Nothing! It was just a joke!”
I glared harder at him. I knew from experience that with this look, I could weasel anything I wanted out of him.
“Okay! I said to Danny, you know, my buddy on the football team?”
I nodded and urged him to go on.
“Well, I said that once Steph and I broke up, I was gonna go out with Gabriella.”
I blinked, “Who?”
Matt sighed, “Your sister.”
“My sister…. Oh, my gosh! Matt, Gabbie’s barely a year old!”
Matt laughed and ran his fingers through his hair. I loved it when he did that. I had been in love with Matt since, well, who knows when. Practically forever. And here he was dating Stephenie. For goodness sakes, he and Stephenie were pretty much polar opposites.
“Well,” He said, “I always said she was a pretty baby…”
I grabbed one of my pillows and smacked it against his face.
“You loser!” I laughed, “You’re such a dork!”
Matt laughed again. Then a sad look came over his face.
“I guess she didn’t know that Gabby’s a baby. She knew it was your sister, and that made her even more mad.”
I patted Matt on the back. Then he looked up at me.
“Do you think it’s funny?” He asked slowly.
“Well, yeah!” I said, “You said you were going to date a baby!”
Matt laughed, “I only wish that Stephenie gets my humor like you do.”
Ugh. Why was he dating that witch anyway?! Was it because of her stupid short skirts and heels? I had to admit, they made her legs look pretty much amazing. But, still. He never had a problem with my t-shirts and sneakers before Stephenie came along. When Stephenie became head of the cheer squad, everything changed. I remember being at Matt’s football game, like always, sitting on the bleachers, cheering for his team when I saw Stephenie, who is the size of a toothpick, run onto the field during a break and give Matt a big, sloppy kiss.
It was the most sickening thing I have seen in my life. And I’ve seen some pretty sickening things in my seventeen years. Including my mom having to give birth to my sister Gabbie on the couch. Talk about sick.
I cleared my throat, “Why are you dating Stephenie, anyway.”
Matt looked at me, “Well, she’s a good person!”
I snorted.
Matt kicked me, “What? She is!”
I rolled my eyes, “I’m pretty sure that getting kicked out of three schools doesn’t count as being a good person.”
Matt groaned, “It was only one school! And it was unjust that she was expelled, too!”
I blinked, “She stole money from the Christmas gift fund.”
Matt glared at me, “Well of course you’d believe that! That’s what the newspapers said. Steph told me she was just framed!”
Than Matt’s phone began to ring.
Stephenie’s ringtone was that fluffy country song, Amazed.
Oh, my gosh.
Matt jumped onto his feet and flipped open his phone, “Hello?! Steph?!”
I groaned and put my pillow over my face.
“Yeah, I’m sorry babe. I’ll never say that again. I love you so much, too.”
I wanted to gag. Stephenie’s shallow brain didn’t have the capacity to feel love.
“I love you too, yeah let’s meet tonight.”
This time, I did gag. Matt turned to me and shot me his “shut up or die” look.
“Alright Babe. Bye, beautiful.”
Matt hung up the phone and swung around to face me.
“YES!! She’s taking me back! We’re meeting tonight at Longbrook park!
My heart sunk. Longbrook park was Matt’s and mine special hangout place. I couldn’t believe he was taking her there! It wasn’t fair.
“Tay? Taylor? You ‘kay?”
“Um, yeah.” I said, “I’m fine. Have fun with Steph.”
Matt’s goofy grin that I loved so much spread over his face.
“Thanks, Tay! Love ya!”
He leaned over and kissed me on the cheek. That was normal for us. We were able to kiss eachother on the cheek or hold hands and it was totally normal for us. I also always sat on his lap, the whole school was used to our crazy antics. The only person who wasn’t used to it was Stephenie, and she threw a fit when we held hands or did any of our normal activities.

Last summer, my mom said something about teaching theology at our parish or something so that the teens could learn to defend our faith, but Fr. got all jumpy and snappy saying something like, "All Religions are the same!"

When we went up to Hartford to protest the new bill they wanted to pass, Fr. refused to go.

The homeschoolers in TJS get to do a special performance at a seniors' day center.

There are eight of us, and we're doing two scenes, one from "As You Like It" and the other from "Much Ado About Nothing". Sarah and I are Conrade and Borachio in Much Ado! Ben (Tybalt in R&J) is Dogberry, who he actually played when TJS did Much Ado the year before last, Kristen (The nurse in R&J and Theseus in Dream) is Verges and Rita is the Sexton. Jeff (Romeo) is Orlando in AYLI, Sara (Fairy and Lady Montague) is Rosalind, Sam is Silvius and Annie is Phebe.

More later! But we're doing it next week and we only have one rehearsal, so I have to get memorizing! Laters!

40 Days For Life, Day 9 (56 babies saved!)

Day 9 - March 5

Intention:

Pray that the post-abortive woman would be repentant, accept forgiveness, be healed and restored, and bring glory to God with her new life.

Scripture:

I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord," and You forgave the iniquity of my sin.

Reflection:

Because abortion is legal in America, many have justified their choice. "If it's legal, it can't be wrong, right?" We now have an entire generation of men and women who have never known abortion to be illegal; a generation of people who have never been broken over their sin of abortion.

As a result, the consequences of unconfessed sin weigh on their souls, yet they have never connected the dots as to why their hearts are heavy. No wonder we have millions of women who are struggling with depression, addictions, eating disorders and more.

Post abortion syndrome is very real but recovery begins when the individual agrees with God as David confessed in Psalm 51:3-4, 14, "Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight - that You may be found just when You speak, and blameless when you Judge. Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, the God of my salvation."

Brokenness is the key to accessing God's glorious mercy and healing. Christ came to heal the broken hearted and He is waiting with open arms to take the post-abortive woman on a glorious journey of healing and restoration if she will only run to Him.

God will not waste any sin we lay at His feet. Imagine millions of healed and restored post-abortive women like myself singing aloud of His righteousness and giving testimony of His love and forgiveness. What a day of rejoicing that will be!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, you are our Healer. You have forgiven all my iniquities and removed my transgressions from me as far as the east is from the west. Guilt no longer has dominion in my life. Lord, we pray that post-abortive women across this nation will run to You to receive the gift of redemption and healing that comes from You only. In the name of our Savior we pray, amen.

40 Days For Life, Day 8 (Yesterday)

Day 8 - March 4

Intention:

We pray for a renewal of our zeal to offer generous help to the unborn and their families.

Scripture:

If I have despised the cause of my male or female servant When they complained against me, What then shall I do when God rises up? When He punishes, how shall I answer Him? Did not He who made me in the womb make them? Did not the same One fashion us in the womb?

Reflection:

The ground is level as we stand before God.

Job lived with an awe provoking sense of God's expectation of him, particularly regarding his obligation to care for the weak and needy. He knew that in God's economy everyone stands on level ground when it comes to our status as God's creatures. Because of that central truth, we must take care of each other.

Job also knew that he didn't deserve any of the good things God gave to him. Instead, those blessings came to Job from God's benevolent heart. As an extension of that knowledge, Job instinctively linked his obligation to be generous to others to God's kindness toward him.

As in Jesus' parable of the unmerciful servant (Matthew 18:23-35), Job knew that it is an egregious sin to deny to others what we enjoy ourselves. He actually calls down on his own head severe condemnation and even punishment should he fail to share with others out of his own abundance (see verses 16-23).

Proverbs 3:27 reads, "Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so." Some things are so obvious that we don't even need to pray except to ask of God forgiveness and the power to do what so obviously needs doing.

Prayer:

God, forgive us when we try to explain away the obligation we have to help others who need help. Enable us to not devalue them because they are in the circumstance that they are in, but to see them for what they are, those, who like us, were formed by your hand in their mother's womb. Amen.

Pray that the abortionists and all workers in abortion facilities would be troubled in their souls regarding their work and would seek truth.

Scripture:

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you.

-- Ephesians 4:31-32

Reflection:

We see the evil and oppression in the world, the arrogance of those who mock God, the millions of innocent lives destroyed because of the greed of a few. Our flesh tells us that we should take justice in our own hands, but instead of vengeance, the Lord calls us to love our enemy, to forgive others as we have been forgiven.

God loves the abortionist and the Planned Parenthood advocate just as much as He loves you. It breaks His heart to see them in bondage to sin and He is giving you this opportunity to introduce them to the Savior who sets the captive free.

Though you may not experience direct interaction with these souls, your presence will not go unnoticed. Your non-verbal communications speak volumes about the God you serve.

Forgiveness is an act of obedience to God (Colossians 3:13). Forgiveness is not condoning or overlooking the wrong behavior of others, but rather it is freeing ourselves so that God can work mightily through us to touch their hearts for Him. Let's join our hearts with His in recognizing that those in the abortion industry are not the enemy, but rather they are blinded by the enemy. God desires that we bring them the message of truth and hope found in Christ, but the messengers He will use are those willing to forgive.

Prayer:

Dearest God, You tell us in Proverbs that the foolish and the wicked lack wisdom and understanding. I pray you will trouble the souls of those in the abortion industry so that they hunger for truth and cry out for freedom. I pray that my life would reflect my redemption so others may see it and trust in You. In obedience to You, and by your grace, I choose to forgive others as you have forgiven me. In the name of Christ my Redeemer I pray, amen.

My dad even came in the room to watch it with us. Sarah and I were all excited to have a "Pirates marathon" but we don't have the second movie, Dead Man's Chest. :( Oh WELL. *sigh*

40 Days For Life, Day 6 (33 Babies Saved!)

Reflection:

Jesus not only loves unborn children -- He was one himself!

Think about this for a moment.

We often hear people speak of a pregnant mother by saying, "She's expecting a child." Now if one is expecting a package, the package is not yet there. As reflected in our verse for today, however, this is not the case with the mother. Her gift is already there. The pregnant woman, a mother already, does not have a child "on the way," but has a child, already present and in full possession of his or her human rights, starting with the right to life.

Prayer:

Jesus, open my eyes to your presence in the life of every child. Open my heart to joy in the birth of every child, a birth that reflects the joy of your own birth in Bethlehem. As you shared life in the womb of Mary, so now send your protection upon every child still in the womb, and grant to their mothers the strength and joy that comes from welcoming the gift of life. We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

So, from Wednesday to Today, Sarah and I spent time with our Grandma while my mom was in Florida.

Today, my dad came to pick us up. I asked him if he could carry my suitcase, because my backpack and purse were straining my back. He took it for me and we went outside. We loaded our stuff in the car, and daddy put my suitcase on top of the car.

We drove home and Sarah and I unloaded the car. I noticed something. My suitcase wasn't there. When I said this outloud, everyone froze. Dad forgot to take it off the top of the car. Sarah calls Grandma, who goes outside, but doesn't see it. Dad and I jump back into the car and drive back to my Grandma's house, looking for the suitcase on the way there. We ran into my aunt on the way there, who was out looking for my suitcase.

We couldn't find it.

Inside were my good sneakers, a perscription, my teddy bear Cuddles (I'm really VERY sad about losing Cuddles :(), two of my Twilight shirts (Team Renessmee and The One that said, "I Dream of Being With You Forever) and a bunch of books including Eclipse, a few books I had borrowed from my cousin (Sorry, Gina. I'll replace them. I'm pretty sure I only lost the Memory Keeper's Daughter, though.), and my brand spanking new books by Jason Evert, "If You Really Loved Me" and Theology of Her Body. I had barely even looked at If You REally Loved Me. But I lost ALOT of my good t-shirts and a brand new shirt from Old Navy. I'm trying to teach this as a lesson to myself, "Worldly things do not matter. You Still Have God." but I'm still sad. I'm trying to be like St. Therese and "offer up the small things".

But, since there was a perscription with my name on it, there is a slight chance that maybe my belongings will find their way back to me. Wouldn't that be nice? But, If I don't get it back, it's okay.

Cuz I've still got the things that really matter, like my family, friends, and GOD!!!

40 Days For Life, Day Five (31 Babies Saved!)

May God's justice sober our society, and may mercy triumph over judgment.

Scripture:

Surely for your lifeblood I will demand a reckoning; from the hand of every beast I will require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man's brother I will require the life of man. Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed; for in the image of God He made man.

- Genesis 9:5-6

Reflection:

The value of every human being can hardly be seen more clearly than with this verse. God, the King of the universe, has created all human beings in his image, and declares forthrightly that shedding the blood of any individual will require the blood of the one who shed it. God's concern for human beings is not limited to any particular group. Indeed, his concern is universal, and includes male and female, young and old, born and unborn, disabled and able-bodied, the citizens of every nation on earth.

Abortion, the deliberate killing of the unborn, is the shedding of innocent blood. Surely the blood of millions upon millions of innocent children cries out to God. It is true that we live in an age of grace, and yet this passage (among many other texts which express similar sentiments) should give every thinking Christian pause.

Christians of all people, entrusted with the Word of God as we are, must take a stand. We must speak out. We must do all that we can to protect the innocent, to pursue justice, and to encourage the repentance of all those who bear responsibility for this great evil. Only in this manner can we hope to forestall the judgment that must otherwise surely come.

This passage should also be seen as an encouragement to educate and disciple our children and grandchildren about what it means to be human, and the responsibility that will become theirs in this ongoing struggle.

Prayer:

O Father, forgive us for our lack of courage and our want of compassion for the unborn and for those lost and hurt by abortion. Fill us anew with your Spirit. Renew our minds, strengthen us in righteousness, help us be people of salt and light within our nation. May every human being, from conception to natural death, be treated with the respect due those made in your image. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
