Two years?!

Today is the two year anniversary of my beloved grandpa, better known as "Captain"'s death. It's nuts! The funeral seems like it took place a lifetime ago, but I feel like I just talked to him and joked with him yesterday. What a funny thing time is! Last night, I was on the phone with my mom, who's still in Florida until tomorrow, and it hit me. Two years ago yesterday, at around the same time I was on the phone with my mom yesterday, I was talking to my mom on the phone in the SAME place I was last night. Strange how some things come full circle, isn't it?

I remember vising him in ICU, even though I was a year too young to be allowed in. I told him how much I missed his ice cream sundaes and that as soon as he cam home, he was going to make me a HUGE one, with all the works. He gave me his conniving smile and began to do these weird motions with his hands.

He was making me an sundae. An invisible ice cream sundae

I remember trying not to cry as I told him it was the best sundae I had ever tasted. And it really was.

Anyway, this is for you Captain. I miss you and can't wait to see you again one day! xoxox

Katie

PS

That lovely picture is a picture of my gorgeous family when Captain was in the hospital. This was taken around Christmas '06. Captain is in the chair on the way left, and I'm in the middle with the pink shirt. :)

5 Quick Takes Saturday (YES I KNOW ITS SUNDAY!) Vol. 3

- 1 -

I was visiting my grandma this weekend, and I just got home. That's why I didn't get to do this yesterday. So, better late then never, right? Right?

-2-

I went to Icing at the mall today and bought two rings and a new pair of sunglasses. One of the rings is a turquoise color and looks like a bunch of little turquoise circles put together. The other looks like two rings, but isn't (cool, huh?) and says "Endless Love". EEP! IT'S MY NEW CHASTITY RING!! YAYY! No offense but it serves the cause better than the makeshift ring I made out of leftover yarn or the ring I bought at a Christian Bookstore's closing sale that said "Jesus Saves". Yay.

Oh, and the glasses are aviators with PINK RIMS!! So cool, right. 8-)

-3-
My iTunes is on shuffle, and Burning Up by the Jonas Brothers just came on.

Speaking of the Jonas Brothers, when my grandma saw I had put my new ring on my left ring finger, this was our convo. It's very interesting.

Grandma: Why are you wearing your new ring THERE?! People are going to think you're married.

Me:Um...

Grandma: Wait, is that a ring like the Jones (no that's not a typo) Brothers wear?

Me: Same concept.

Grandma: AWWWW THAT'S SO CUTE!!

Me: Yeah. It is. *Leaves the room quickly*

And speaking of the Jo Bros again, I almost bought a shirt with them on it at Kohls today. Why? It was on sale for ten bucks! Then I put it on and laughed. I don't really have a small chest, so this was... very clingy. And tight. And uncomfortable.

-4-
Yesterday, Grandma, Auntie, my cousin Laurie (Reilly's mom), Sarah and I all went to NYC to see my cousin, Gina, who had just had an operation last weekend. Gina bought a big tub of cookie dough so Sarah and I could make cookies. Yum. The tub said to put them in at 375 for 9-11 minutes. So, I put them in at 375 for ten minutes. Five minutes later...

They were burnt. Ew. So, Mike, Gina's boyfriend, Sarah and I walked the block to get a tube of cookie dough. Yay.

-5-
I went to Old Navy with my Grandma today, and you probably don't know this, but I have a pretty unhealthy obsession with ON. I mean, most of their stuff is pretty modest and it's affordable.

And they have my size.

Seriously, it's pretty hard to find a store that I approve of that carries my size and is within my budget.

So, I got a new pair of bermuda shorts (Like with ON, I have an unhealthy obsession with Bermudas too. Come ON! They're trendy and MODEST!! YAY!), a really really cute white skirt that goes beneath my knees *gaspeth!*, an ADORABLE turquoise shirt, a 3/4 quarter sleeve pink henley and a pink cami to go underneath the henley, cuz it's a wittle too lowcut for my liking. :D

The Big E

Last time I said the Phrase, "The Big E" online, someone asked, "Is it an elephant?"

To answer that.... mature question, no. The Big E is kinda like a state fair, only for all of New England. It's SOOOO much fun! They have concerts (This year, Danity Kane, Natasha Bedingfield, Ashley Gearing, Fergie and Jordin Sparks were all part of the entertainment. They've also had O-Town, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, etc. etc.), AMAZING food (you haven't lived until you had clam chowder from Massachusetts.), awesome exhibits (All this cool farm stuff), a buncha fun rides (Funny story bout that... but I'll tell about it later in the post) and PARADES!!

Although, it was kinda embarassing being there since my mom decided that she should bring her cane. *facepalm* Sarah, Dad and I would be walking, then we'd look back and notice that my mom was a mile behind us. *sigh* There was this wicked awesome jewelery place there that sold all these sweet earrings. Sarah got a cuff (it looks like you have a hoop in your cartlidge, but it's just a clip-on thing) and I got these BEEEEAAAAUTIFUL swirly earrings.

OK. About the funny story. When we got to the rides section, Sarah and I took Dad's cell and went wondering. We saw a ride that looked like the scrambler. We were like, OMIGOSH!! AHH! So we get in line and are there right in time before the ride starts. We get buckled in, and aren't paying attention to ANYTHING and just talking. Then the ride starts going up. We don't notice. We're just blabbing. Blah blah blahhh. All of the sudden, we're pretty much upside down. We were both like, "This isn't the scrambler...." Soooo we're screaming our heads off, and I'm threatning to kill Sarah. I'm sure it was an amusing sight. But, we decided to go on again, and when you expect it, it's actually really fun.

So, that's it for now. I'm reading this AMAZING book called Captivating by Stasi and John Ethridge. You. Must. Read. It. It ROCKS!

Lots of Love,

Katie <3

PS

I wouldn't mind getting a cool award. *smiles innocently*

Birthday parties, sleep tests and the new school year, oh my!

Helloo!

Sarah and I had our birthday parties this past weekend. Every year, we have a big "friend" party when we invite all our friends, and we also have a "family" party where we invite our family members to a BBQ. This year for our "friend" party, we had a big murder mystery party! IT WAS SOOO MUCH FUN!!

Last night, I went to the hospital for a sleep test. They just wanted to check and see if I have sleep apnea (where you stop breathing when you're sleeping). The good news is, I don't have sleep apnea! The bad news is I didn't get any sleep.

Would YOU get any sleep with all that on your face/head/body? I didn't think so.

But, I did get to watch the season premiere of Bones (YAY!) and Sarah Palin's speech. Both of which were AWESOME!

We started school. It stinks. *sigh* oh well. Science isn't too bad. Algebra is.... Algebra. Meaning... TERRIBLE!

OK, well that's all for now!

Lots of Love,

Katie <3

My Family Tree

Well, I've been wanting to do it for a LONG time, and I've finally done it!! MY FAMILY TREE!!!

I don't have that much info, but my Auntie was a big help and found some of my great-grandparents birth certificates and death certificates. I'm so happy my Grandpa kept all this stuff and my family didn't just throw it all away!!!

I found out the names of two of my great-great grandparents' names which was very cool. I also found out my great grandfather changed his name!! Very interesting.

Sarah update: ER last night. Third time for the same thing. Stupid doctors.

OH!! And my Shakespeare group was in the newspaper today, and they got a great picture of my beautiful (and annoying) sister Sarah!! That was the last day she felt really good. And that night she went to the ER. I haven't seen her smile like she is in the picture for so long. :)

Well, that's it for now. I'll try to keep you posted.
